Introducing the all-new Kia Sportage

As one of Kia's best-selling models, the Sportage has been given an overhaul to forge a strong future for the already-popular family SUV.

Now entering its fifth generation, a new, sleek exterior design has been implemented to give the all-new Sportage a more prominent road presence that is sure to turn heads. Inside the cabin, occupants are greeted with the latest technological innovations and a futuristic, yet sophisticated, cabin design to provide an immersive driving experience.

As part of the ongoing expansion of Kia's hybrid and electric range, the all-new Sportage comes with a range of mild-hybrid, full-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains as well as a traditional combustion engine. With both manual and automatic gearboxes available across the range, the all-new Sportage is a versatile vehicle that's suitable for a variety of needs.

Design and Practicality

The already good-looking Sportage just got better. The first thing to catch your eyes is the large daytime running LED headlights which give the all-new Sportage a distinctive look. A striking road presence has also been created thanks to sharp exterior lines which help to amplify the all-new Sportage's design cues.

Stepping inside, all occupants are greeted with a state-of-the-art interior that showcases Kia's development. As the first Sportage to have a European-specific version, the interior is crafted in a way that is more in-tune with the ergonomics of the European market. As part of this design, there is more head and legroom than previous generations, as well as a 12.3-inch touchscreen to increase connectivity, functionality, and usability.

The all-new Sportage also delivers in the department of boot space. 591 litres come as standard, but fold down the 40:20:40 split-rear seats and this will increase to a staggering 1,780 litres of space.

Technology and Safety

The equipment has also received an update to align it with the all-new Sportage's futuristic design. The aforementioned high-tech 12.3-inch touchscreen is the centre piece of the vehicle's equipment and is where most of the onboard controls reside.

Kia's advanced mobile phone connectivity software, Kia Connect, is as good as ever and allows you to use features such as online navigation and calendar integration, giving you the highest level of connectivity. You can even check whether your car is locked from a remote location by using the mobile app, giving you peace of mind.

Kia has an excellent track record when it comes to safety, so you can expect the all-new Sportage to deliver within this area. A range of safety equipment will be available on the all-new Sportage, including:

  • DriveWise (Advanced Driver Assistance System which includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist System with Junction Turning functionality)

  • Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control

  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist

  • Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) technology

Economy and Performance

Coming in a variety of configurations, the all-new Sportage is available with state-of-the-art hybrid powertrains as well as low-emission internal combustion engines, to increase fuel economy and decrease running costs.

The range starts with a 1.6-litre mild hybrid petrol engine that produces either 148bhp or 178bhp depending upon specification. The next step up in terms of power is the full hybrid powertrain that combines both the power of the 1.6-litre internal combustion engine with that of the electric motor to generate 227bhp. Rounding off the hybrids is the plug-in hybrid which generates an eye-watering 265bhp.

Kia have also ensured efficient diesel power remains by offering a 1.6-litre diesel engine with either 113bhp if going for a manual, or 134bhp with automatic transmission. The latter is also available with mild-hybrid technology to increase economy even further.

Test Drive the all-new Kia Sportage

The all-new Sportage is in line with Kia's movement towards a cleaner future thanks to its economic engine line-up. But it isn't just the powertrains that have been updated. A fresh and sleek design has been combined with advanced technology to provide an excellent all-round family SUV.

Highlights
Kia Sportage
1
Eco-friendly materials inspired by nature
As a clear statement of Kia’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, we have developed different seat materials for the all-new Sportage. Depending on the trim level you choose, seat material is available in cloth, cloth-artificial leather combination, PVC artificial leather or PU artificial leather, which are both vegan. The PU vegan leather seats also contain Tencel™ made from eucalyptus wood for a more natural feel.
2
Highway Driving Assist (HDA)
Highway Driving Assist is designed for effortless driving on motorways. It automatically maintains the Sportage distance to another vehicle in front as well as keeping it centred in its current lane on the highway. At the same time, it controls steering, acceleration and deceleration whilst you are in-lane. Under certain conditions, the system will automatically adjust the Sportage’s speed to match the speed limit information provided by the navigation data (HEV models only).
3
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
Evaluating both camera and radar data from your vehicle, the FCA system analyses information about other cars, pedestrians or cyclists crossing the road to avoid a potential collision with them. FCA also functions to prevent collisions with vehicles when making a left turn at an intersection (HEV models only). If it detects a potential collision, a warning signal appears on your instrument cluster and maximum braking power is applied.
4
Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA)
The Blind-Spot Collision Warning system uses a front camera and rear radar sensor to monitor your blind spots and warn you of oncoming cars with a symbol in the side-view mirror. The Lane Change Assist system helps you change lanes safely. If you set the indicator prior to a lane change and the system detects approaching cars in the parallel lanes, the system activates a flashing light in the side mirror to warn you. Should you start to change lane whilst a car is in your blind spot, the system will intervene to avoid a collision (K4 HEV only).
