Introducing the New Kia Ceed

The Ceed made a big impression when it was initially introduced to the Irish market back in 2006. Since then, it has only gone from strength-to-strength thanks to a series of updates, which include Kia's now widely recognised design language.

Introduced in 2021, the latest generation brings a host of new additions, which have elevated comfort and enhanced visual appeal. As a result, the new Kia Ceed is better than ever and more than worthy of consideration if you need a hatchback for the family.

It's backed by Kia's magnificent 7-year warranty too, for total peace of mind and affordability. Keep on reading to learn more about the Kia Ceed and how it could improve your life on a daily basis.

Design and Practicality

The signature 'tiger-nose' grill is the centrepiece of a redesigned exterior that comes with aesthetic differences dependent upon specification. There's also a range of distinctive colours to choose from during configuration as well as new honeycomb style LED rear lights that allow your car to stand out from the crowd.

5-door hatchback models boast a 395-litre boot, which is more than some larger vehicles have to offer, alongside plenty of room for passengers in both the front and rear, leaving taller occupants with little to complain about.

The new Ceed Sportswagon has a fantastic amount of space for both passengers and luggage. With 625 litres of load space, which can extend to 1,694 litres when rear seats are folded, there's plenty of opportunity to store anything from multiple suitcases to a couple of golf bags.

Technology and Safety

The new Kia Ceed comes loaded with a range of equipment as standard to improve functionality and safety. Available features such as Lane Following Assist (LFA) and Driver Attention Warning (DAW+) help the driver to stay on course and maintain focus on the road.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) is also available, providing pedestrian protection throughout every journey, whilst a Rear Parking Camera with Dynamic Guidelines increases visibility and makes tight manoeuvres easier. Smart Cruise Control is also available and works in conjunction with other features to ensure the vehicle is travelling in the safest possible manner.

Kia Connect services use live data to calculate the quickest route when using the navigation system and can identify available public parking spaces as well as pricing information on local fuel prices and parking charges.

Economy and Performance

A choice between two petrol or one mild hybrid diesel engine is available with the new Kia Ceed. You're also given the option of a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The 1.0-petrol unit offers 118bhp, a much-welcomed 54.3mpg combined and a moderate 0 to 100km/h time of around 10.3 seconds. The larger 1.5-litre offers 158bhp yet still provides impressive fuel economy figures of 49.6mpg combined as well as a punchier 0 to 100km/h time of around 8.5 seconds.

If you spend a lot of time on the motorway, then the 1.6-litre, 134bhp mild hybrid diesel engine is your best bet. With efficient fuel economy figures and performance available from low down in the rev range, this unit is a solid performer.

Sportswagon

The new Ceed Sportswagon takes all of the fantastic traits from the new Ceed hatchback and adds an extra layer of practicality. While the rest of the car remains unchanged, the boot space is increased by 36% to 625 litres. This is enough to carry pushchairs, the weekly shop and a few more bits besides, or you can chuck in a couple of bikes.

It's managed to retain the good looks of the regular Ceed hatchback too. The rear of the car has been given a stylish sloping design that features a noticeably lower loading lip, so it's easy to throw things in the back.

Overall, the new Sportswagon takes an already fantastic family car and gives you more room in the back to work with. So if that's what you're looking for, the new Ceed Sportswagon will work perfectly for you.

Test Drive the new Kia Ceed

The new Kia Ceed is a great choice of hatchback if you're after an all-round performer that's flexible, practical, and efficient. The updated design is guaranteed to receive compliments, while the generous levels of technology across the range reaffirm the Ceed as a car that represents excellent value for money. And let's not forget that 7-year/150,000km warranty.

Highlights
Kia Ceed
1
Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA)
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with Pedestrian/Cyclist Protection gives you warning signals and automatically brakes if you don't react, helping to prevent or mitigate an accident. Radar and a camera detect potential dangers in the car's path, including pedestrians, cyclists, and cars.
2
Starting, torque assist, cruising
The engine is started by the ‘e-system’ to ensure a prompt and smooth start. During acceleration or uphill driving, the ‘e-system’ provides torque assistance by taking energy from the battery. When cruising at constant speed, the combustion engine partially recharges the battery if the charge level is low.
3
Coasting, recharging, stop & start
On models with iMT, when you lift your foot from the throttle and let the car coast the engine switches off, resulting in fuel savings. When decelerating or braking, the energy generated by the vehicle motion recharges the battery. When decelerating to a stop, the combustion engine turns off automatically to save fuel.
4
High Bean Assist (HBA)
High Beam Assist (HBA) detects vehicles travelling towards you or ahead of you and automatically changes to low beam, ensuring the best possible visibility without blinding other road users.
5
Driver Attention Warning (DAW+)
The system notices if you’re losing concentration by monitoring the pattern of the steering wheel, acceleration, and overall length of the journey. If your attention level seems low, it alerts you both visually and audibly. DAW+ also features a leading vehicle departure warning system that will alert you too if, for example, when in traffic, the car in front of you drives away and you don’t move.
6
Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
No need to worry about drifting out of your lane. The Lane Keeping Assist alerts you and even steers you back into place to keep you exactly where you need to be.
7
Use smart power assistance
By cleverly pairing the 1.6CRDi diesel engine with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, the EcoDynamics+ mild hybrid system can reduce fuel consumption and vehicle emission levels. What’s more, the integrated ‘e-system’ recovers kinetic energy during deceleration phases to provide torque assistance when accelerating.
8
Reverse Parking Sensors
Ideal for confident parking, Ceed uses ultrasonic sensors mounted on the rear bumpers to warn of any obstacles behind, when manoeuvring into a parking space.
