Introducing the All-New Kia Niro

The all-new Kia Niro is an eco-friendly family car that has been designed with nature in mind and is built using sustainable materials.

It's evident that Kia is taking large strides towards a greener future, with the all-new Niro joining the likes of the Kia EV6 and all-new Kia Sportage in their climate-friendly range of cars.

As well as being built using sustainable and recycled materials, the all-new Niro will come with a choice of hybrid technologies and will also be available as a dedicated electric vehicle (EV).

A striking design, new technology, and enhanced comfort carve the all-new Niro's identity, ensuring its place as a pivotal model within Kia's expanding eco-friendly line-up.

Design and Practicality

Following the same design language as other new Kia models, the all-new Niro takes inspiration from nature and blends it with a futuristic outlook. A prime example of this is the brand's 'tiger face', which extends from the bonnet and through to the front wings.

The crossover appearance is emphasised by a two-tone body, while a water-based paint that's free from harmful chemicals and isomers is used on the door panels to reduce environmental impact.

Inside, the all-new Niro offers a generous amount of space for passengers in both the front and back to enjoy. The seats now recruit a lightweight mechanism, which translates to more comfort and space inside.

Technology and Safety

Complementing the futuristic interior design are a host of innovative technologies, one of which is the newly introduced 'Greenzone Drive Mode'.

In essence, it'll automatically transfer the hybrid drivetrains into an all-electric drive mode where required. Using the onboard satellite navigation, it'll do this when you're in a green zone, which includes residential areas, or if you're near a school or hospital.

It'll even recognise your favourite places, including your home or place of work, and register that as a green zone.

The cabin follows a similar eco-friendly theme, with the headlining having been made using recycled wallpaper and the seats from Bio PU with Tencel from eucalyptus leaves. Finishing the irregular, yet aesthetically pleasing interior design is ambient mood lighting.

Engines and Performance

The all-new Niro will be available with three different drivetrains, all of which are engineered to offer excellent fuel efficiency and low/zero emission driving.

You'll be able to choose from the following options:

  • Hybrid (HEV)

  • Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV)

  • Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)

The HEV and PHEV variants come equipped with a super-efficient 1.6-litre smartstream engine to produce a total of 139bhp and 180bhp when paired with their respective 32kw and 62kw electric motors. PHEV models are also capable of travelling up to 64km using electric power alone.

Following on from the success of previous generations, the all-new Niro EV (BEV) has an impressive range of over 450km and a total power output of 201bhp.

Test drive the all-new Kia Niro

The all-new Niro perfectly encompasses the values that Kia have adopted when designing their cars. Not only are the drivetrains guaranteed to offer low running costs and excellent efficiency, but the sustainable and recycled materials used by Kia embody their commitment towards a greener future.

Highlights
Kia Niro PHEV
1
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
Evaluating both camera and radar data from your Niro, the system analysis information about other cars, pedestrians or cyclists crossing the road to avoid a potential collision with them. FCA 1.5 also functions to prevent collisions with vehicles when turning at a junction or making a left turn at an intersection. If it detects a potential collision, a warning signal appears on your instrument cluster and maximum braking power is applied. For the Niro EV the FCA 2.0 would also engage when you are crossing the intersection.
2
Easy and Convenient
With the majority of electric car charging done from home, you can more efficiently plan your time around the things you want to do. Simply recharge on an evening, and by morning you’ll be ready to go.
3
Three Innovation-driven Models
Enjoy eco-friendly driving with a new peace of mind. Thanks to powertrain technologies that go the distance – to take you the distance. The advanced innovation built into its three powertrains means driving one of our all-new Kia Niro models brings more freedom on every journey – without having to compromise on anything.
4
A Distinctive Drive
Electric technology is not only incredibly quiet, but also able to deliver instant acceleration with no lag and no gearshift interruptions. This means a distinctively smooth and responsive driving experience at all speeds.
5
Highway Drive Assist (HDA)
Designed for effortless driving on motorways, HDA automatically maintains the Niro’s distance to another vehicle in front as well as keeping it centred in its current lane on the highway. At the same time, it controls steering, acceleration and deceleration whilst you are in-lane.
6
Eco-friendly materials inspired by nature
As a clear statement of Kia’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, we have developed different seat materials for the all-new Niro. Depending on the trim level you choose, seat material is available in cloth, cloth-artificial leather combination, PVC artificial leather or PU artificial leather, which are both vegan. The PU vegan leather seats also contain Tencel™ made from eucalyptus wood for a more natural feel.
7
Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)
This system provides audible and visual warning of any of vehicles in your blind spot area, and actively controls the vehicle to help avoid a collision. Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) provides the same assistance while in reverse if vehicles are approaching from the left to the right.
8
Zero Tailpipe Emissions
Vehicles powered solely by a battery are able to achieve maximum power with zero tailpipe emissions. And with more renewable resources added to the National Grid all the time, electric car energy gets cleaner every year.
